We are committed to providing everyone with the best experience possible when training with our club. With that in mind, we have provided these club policies to help you familiarize yourself with our organization. We are growing and to maintain our culture and level of excellence we ask everyone to work with us to uphold and respect our club policies.

Below you will find the Spiker beach policies. We ask that you review them. We have also provided quick links if you are looking for something in particular.

Club Training Policies
Make ups – Walk ONs – Memberships – Packages

Make Up Policy

Our make up policy is important to help us maintain the quality of our training. It is available during Winter/Spring/Fall only.

Make up days are permitted and based on schedule availability, cancellations must be submitted to our club email at minimum the day prior to the session. In return you will have a make up day and 30 days to contact us to use your day (we do not allow walk ons all visits must be scheduled in advance).

These make ups session requests must be submitted via email at minimum 24hrs prior to the session. Canceled make ups will revert back to the original cancellation date. There are no exceptions, we value every athlete and strive to maintain our training standards by keeping a strict coach to athlete ratio. We appreciate everyone’s help in maintaining a strong club.

When we look at the schedule we decide how many coaches we need to send for each day. If you do not show and do not notify us, Jake still has to pay that coach. So you can see why with how large the club is right now why this policy is very important.

Walk on Visits

Walk ons are not permitted for any reason. Any visit to our club must be prescheduled and we do not allow last minute Drop in sessions. We need our schedule set in order to provide the right number of coaches to the number of athletes joining us. Please keep that in mind as walk ons affect every athletes experience and you will be contacted by our director with a request to pay a drop in fee immediately

About Our Packages and Drop ins

Spiker Beach Packages

Spiker Beach club offers training packages, and we charge via a reoccurring billing system monthly. Should you start week 2 or 3 of month we prorate by day after the first week. Our Athletes are placed into a set schedule based on your choices in order to maintain the athlete to coach ratio ensuring the best training experience for everyone. You will choose your training day(s) when you choose your package.

Change of Training Day(s), Packages or Cancellations

Should you need change your training days please reach out to us in advance of the change we need a minimum of 24hrs to reprogram your schedule.

Should you need to change your training package, we can help you with that. We have the ability to set you up for a new package the next month, if you need anything mid month we will do our best to work with you. Because change of packages requires you signing up for something new, please provide the request well in advance. The day before the month bills is not something we can accommodate. You will be given a specific link with instructions, please follow them for a smooth transition. Once we have the new package in place we will cancel your old one.

You may cancel your package at any time. However, we need cancellations well in advance of the billing date. Should you cancel after billing occurs we can only refund the package minus the credit card fees (we loose all fees right away)

Drop In Visits

Spiker Beach does offer Drop in visits, these are meant to be a add on should you want additional days. The link drop ins is private and only available to current club members can request a drop in link. We always recommend a package, as the drop ins are more expensive. Any drop in payments are required at least 24hrs in advance of the session.

General Club Policies
Weather Cancellations – Communication – Payments

General Club Policies

Weather and Beach Cancellations
Certain times of the year we are going to run into intermittent weather. All weather and beach closures will be posted on Instagram and Facebook, and we only will be posting cancellations or beach closures. Please check there for all training changes and updates, Jake makes that call close to training time and he does like to train in weather. We ask that you refrain from reaching out to our team directly, in many instances when Jake makes the decision and does not notify the entire team. In the case of a canceled session make ups will be applied to accounts], no need to reach out.

Communications with Operations (AKA Gina)
The club is growing and we are so happy about that, but with that comes a lot more work. Know your questions and requests are important to us, but know Gina is not always at her desk to answer immediately. Respectfully, we hope you will be patient as we follow on requests. We ask you email rather than call or text, having all the questions in one place makes things much easier and more efficient.

Refunds
Spiker Beach training, packages, and memberships are non-transferable and requests for acceptable returns are reviewed by club administrator for approval. In certain cases, credit card fees will be deducted from refunds and are at the discretion of the administrator.

Failed Payments
From time to time, we all experience a expired, stolen or canceled credit card issue. No problem, if your card is declined for any reason our system will generate an email notifying you. We need your help to resolve that as quickly as possible as we have to update all payments to our schedule to notify the coaches. There should be a link to go into your account and update the card. Be sure to delete the old one or it will not work. Please know we have built our system to protect you and your privacy, we will not run any payments on your behalf and we do not have access to your accounts. If we cannot resolve the payment in a timely manner we will pull you from our schedule.

Club Competition Policies

Tournament Overview – Registering – Code Of Conduct

Competing with us

About Club Tournaments
One of the best parts of being a club member is that you are eligible to play in our club tournaments. As a club we participate in tournaments throughout the year in anticipation of the National Championships held each June. We travel to tournaments and also host them at our home courts in Huntington Beach There are two types of tournaments we participate in.

  • Pairs – This is the traditional tournament style of competition where teams of 2 compete against each other for 1, 2, or 3 days. For these tournaments we require you register with a partner.
  • Club vs. Club – These events have become more popular over the last five years and mimic the college competition style. Squads of three or five teams compete against each other. The 1s play the 1s, and 2s play the 2s through to 3s vs 3s or 5s vs 5s. The squad that wins the most matches wins the duel. For these tournaments we allow either individuals to register or teams, you have the choice.

The process of entering one of our tournaments requires two things, an expression of interest registration form and a tournament payment. We will release the tournament via a club wide email and we will provide a deadline for registration. After the deadline coaches will assign teams using the registration as a guide.

If you are registering as a team, both athletes must submit a registration and payment prior to the deadline, otherwise we will not accept the team. You are responsible to make sure both partners are fully registered. We will not be reaching out to remind you.

Committing to this tournament means you are committed to playing for us on the tournament date. Payments will bill on the day we release squads. If you pull out of the tournament after the selections have been made, the tournament fee will be forfeited. Know that by pulling out of a tournament not only effects your partner but can potentially effect and cancel an entire squad.

Registering for a Club Tournament

  • Expression of interest (or tournament registration) will be closed approximately 1- month prior to the tournament date (with exceptions such as this tournament), in order to allow our coaches to focus on getting our athletes ready for the tournament instead of making roster adjustments.
  • When Registering for the BVCA & AVP Club Vs Club tournaments
    • You may sign up as an individual or with a partner (certain tournaments are team only), should you have a strong partner preference. If you are new and don’t know enough players you can sign up as an individual and we will find a partner for you. Any partner assignments will be at the discretion of the coaches and for the overall good of the club.
    • If registering as a team both partners must fill out a registration form, this will allow us to confirm your team members and collect the contact information for each partner. This also avoids two people registering for the same partner.
  • We use the registration form contact information for tournament communications. We do not pull from any other lists.
  • When expressing interest – we now require tournament fees to be paid at the time of registration or you will not be considered for the roster. Payments are considered a commitment to playing the event and non-refundable otherwise. Should we not be able to accommodate a team we will reach out and make arrangements.
    • Pairs tournaments will be billed immediately as we register you for the tournament immediately to hold your place.
    • Club vs Club tournament will be billed to you on the day we release squads, or immediately if you join after the initial squad formation.
  • At Spiker Beach we as coaches share the same interests as our athletes. Our ability to host tournaments at our home beach allows us to give all our athletes a chance to compete in Club vs Club style tournaments. Athletes will be placed where our coaching staff thinks they will excel and we ask that these decisions are respected and supported

Spiker Beach Tournament Code Of Conduct

Coaching is a bonus, not a given. We have prepared our athletes to manage themselves in match situations. If there is not a coach at your court, please do not text or call coaches. In addition to this, during match play do not communicate with coaches while they are coaching, either when they are on the sideline or during team huddles.
You will find the complete list of Spiker Beach tournament expectations outlined for you below. Please read over them carefully as we need everyone’s help to make these events a success for our athletes and for Spiker Beach.

  • Athletes must wear full Spiker Beach uniforms to be coached. This includes both the shorts and the tank top. You cannot tuck your shirt up or alter the uniform in any way. This is in accordance with NCAA standards. If you do not follow these guidelines you will not receive coaching at AVP, BVCA, and AAU events.
  • Priority will be given to teams with 2 Spiker players.
  • Coaches will not coach in games where teams with a Spiker player on each team play each other.
  • if you are playing with a non-Spiker Beach athlete you cannot accept outside coaching during match play.
  • Arrival time should be based on the following:
    • If the tournament stipulates that players must attend a briefing please do so.
    • If playing first please arrive 60 minutes prior to you match and meet with your assigned coach if you have one.
    • If refereeing first arrive 20 minutes before it is scheduled to start.
  • Teams will be responsible to find their coach prior to their warm-up to have their pre-game meeting. If a team receives in game coaching they must find their coach after the match to debrief.
  • When in the elimination phases of an event priority will be given to teams in the higher brackets.
  • Teams must complete their work responsibilities to the best standard.
  • We are aiming for a coach to athlete ratio of 1 coach to 3-4 teams which means we cannot be available for every point or even every match. We will do our best to monitor which courts seem to have the most need at any given point. Please respect our efforts to support each Spiker Beach team.
  • Parents please abide by the rules set out for you. They vary from tournament to tournament but are generally: You are allowed to positively cheer for your player or team, you are not allowed to instruct or direct your player or team and you are not allowed to interact with the officials.
  • Athletes and parents please tag @spikerbeach in all social media posts
